Cookie policy
Every cookie and every piece of browser storage we use, listed by name, with what it does and how long it lasts.
In effect from 14 October 2026.
The legal entity behind Steddy is printed here once it is confirmed.

1. The short answer
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The Steddy app sets one cookie, to remember whether the sidebar is open, and uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Nothing on either follows you to other sites. The rest of this page is the full list.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so the site can tell it is you on your next page or your next visit. Browser storage does the same job for a web app without being sent to the server on every request. Both live on your device and you can clear either in your browser settings.
3. On steddyhq.com
- No cookies.
- No analytics script. Our fonts are served from our own site, so no request goes to a font service.
- Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs of each request. That is not a cookie and it is covered in the privacy policy.
- If you reach us through a link on our contact page, you are on that provider's site and its cookies apply there.
Microsoft Clarity, which is off
We plan to run Microsoft Clarity to see how people use this site: where they scroll, where they tap, which pages they leave. It records a session as an anonymous replay. It is not switched on. When it is, this paragraph will say so and the cookies below will be live.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _clck | Keeps the Clarity id for your browser so return visits join up. | One year |
| _clsk | Joins the pages of one visit into one session. | One day |
| CLID | Identifies the first time Clarity saw this browser. | One year |
| ANONCHK | Checks whether an ad identifier has been given; we run no ads through Clarity, so it stays empty. | Ten minutes |
| MR, MUID, SM | Microsoft's own identifiers, set by its domain. | Up to one year |
When Clarity is on, you can opt out of it on this page. TODO(decision: legal-terms): the opt-out control, built with the switch-on.
4. In the Steddy app
app.steddyhq.com is for the business's owner, office staff and technicians, and for its customers using the portal. It sets one cookie:
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| sidebar:state | Remembers whether you left the sidebar open or closed. | Seven days |
It keeps these in your browser's local storage, which stays until you sign out or clear it:
- Your sign-in session, so you stay signed in between visits. The app does not work without it.
- Your preferences: light or dark theme, how you last viewed the leads list, which notifications you have seen, whether you have dismissed a banner, and whether the in-browser phone is switched off.
Three services run inside the app and may set their own cookies on their own domains, under their own policies:
- Google Maps, for the address lookup and the schedule map.
- The in-browser phone from our call-tracking provider, CallTrackingMetrics, on the Steddy Loop and Steddy Fleet plans.
- Square's payment page, when a customer pays by card. That page is Square's, not ours.
Our error service, Sentry, sets no cookie. What it receives is in the privacy policy.
5. On the pages a homeowner sees
The quote approval page, the customer portal and the rating page are part of the app and use the same storage as section 4. The portal signs you in with a link emailed to you, and keeps that session in your browser's storage until it expires.
If a business's own website shows you a different phone number depending on how you arrived, that is a call-tracking script the business has put on its own site. It sets a cookie there, on the business's domain, under the business's privacy policy, not this one.
6. In Steddy Crew
Steddy Crew is a phone app and sets no cookies. It stores on the phone an encrypted sign-in session, a copy of the technician's jobs for up to seven days so the app works with no signal, and the work done offline until it can be sent.
7. Turning them off
Your browser can block or clear cookies and local storage; look for Privacy or Site data in its settings. On this website there is nothing to turn off today. In the app, clearing storage signs you out and resets your preferences, and the app will not stay signed in with storage blocked. Your browser’s "Do Not Track" setting changes nothing on this site, because nothing on it tracks you across sites.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add a cookie, a storage key or a third-party script, it is listed here before it goes live. The date at the top is when the current list took effect.
