Three electrical jobs, one day in Steddy

Fault finding, on a call-out
The safety switch keeps tripping. The office books it with a time window and one of the electricians who works that area. They accept it on their phone, tap On my way with how many minutes, find the fault and fix it. Your call-out fee and the repair are lines from your catalogue. The homeowner signs for the work on the electrician's phone, the payment is recorded, and the invoice is written before they're back in the van.

The switchboard upgrade, quoted after looking at the board
The electrician photographs the old board, and the photo sits on the job record for the office. They write the quote on their phone: the board, the breakers and the labour from your catalogues at your sell price, your terms on it. The homeowner signs on the spot or from the email. If the homeowner says no to the first price, a revised quote starts from the old one. The office books the install day, and the accepted quote's lines become the invoice.

Smoke alarms, quoted and done in the one visit
Four interconnected alarms, quoted on the electrician's phone in front of the homeowner, signed, and installed before the electrician leaves. Each alarm is a part with who paid for it: your stock, or bought on the way and reimbursed. Finish writes the invoice from the quote's lines, with the photo of the finished job on the record.

Which electrical work pays
A board upgrade bills out big and carries a board, a dozen breakers and a day. A fault find bills out small and carries a call-out fee and an hour. Which made you more last month? Sales are up, the overdraft is funding it, and nobody knows which jobs are making money.
Steddy works out profit on every job the moment it closes: revenue without the GST, less the parts at cost, less tolls, less the card fee, less the electrician's commission. Then it lines the jobs up. Revenue by electrician. Revenue by metro, postcode and suburb. Revenue by lead source, so the Google ad, the website and the word of mouth each carry their own number. A profit and loss with the rent, the insurance and the software in it.

The office, without fifty calls a day
The day is run from the Jobs screen. Four counts at the top say what needs a person: jobs with nobody on them, jobs an electrician declined, jobs past their date, and finished jobs that haven't been paid in full. A job on hold says why: part not on the van, customer not home, waiting on the network operator. Move a job to another electrician on the Schedule and they're asked to accept it.
- Whoever answers the phone
- Office staff on the phones are included in every plan, however many you have. They work leads, jobs, quotes and invoices.
- The bookkeeper
- Invoices, payments and customers go across to Xero on their own. A payment recorded in Xero comes back and marks the job paid. How the Xero sync works.
- You
- Profit, commission and the profit and loss are the admin's to see. Nobody else's.
