Three plumbing jobs, one day in Steddy

The blocked drain, done on the spot

The office books it: a date, a time window, and one of the plumbers who works that area. It lands on their phone under Needs your OK. They accept, tap On my way with how many minutes, clear it, and tap Finish. Your call-out fee and the drain clear are lines from your catalogue. The homeowner signs for the work on the plumber's phone, the payment is recorded, and the invoice is written before the van leaves.

The hot water changeover, quoted on site

The plumber writes the quote on their phone: the unit from your parts catalogue at your sell price, the labour, your terms. The cost price never appears. The homeowner reads it, draws a signature and accepts your terms, on the plumber's phone or from the email later. The office books the install day. On the day the plumber adds the unit as a part, says who paid for it, and the accepted quote's lines become the invoice.

The burst pipe at nine at night

The job is booked and sent to whoever is on call. If the part isn't on the van, the job goes on hold with the reason, and the office sees why in the morning. Leads by hour and day show you when the after-hours calls actually come, so you decide who answers the phone at nine at night with numbers, not a guess. With Steddy Loop the call comes in on a tracked number, so you also know who answered it and whether it was booked.

Which plumbing work pays

A changeover bills out big and carries a unit at cost. A drain clear bills out small and carries almost nothing. Which one made you more last month? The mortgage got paid, so the business must be making money.

Steddy works out profit on every job the moment it closes: revenue without the GST, less the parts at cost, less tolls, less the card fee, less the plumber's commission. Then it lines the jobs up. Revenue by plumber. Revenue by metro, postcode and suburb. Revenue by lead source, so the Google ad, the website and the word of mouth each carry their own number. A profit and loss with the rent, the insurance and the software in it.

The office, off the tools

The day is run from the Jobs screen, not the whiteboard and not fifty phone calls. Four counts at the top say what needs a person: jobs with nobody on them, jobs a plumber declined, jobs past their date, and finished jobs that haven't been paid in full. The list to work through on a Monday. A job on hold says why: waiting on the unit from the supplier, nobody home, needs a second person. Move a job to another plumber on the Schedule and they're asked to accept it.

Whoever answers the phone
Office staff on the phones are included in every plan, however many you have. They work leads, jobs, quotes and invoices.
The bookkeeper
Invoices, payments and customers go across to Xero on their own. A payment recorded in Xero comes back and marks the job paid. How the Xero sync works.
You
Profit, commission and the profit and loss are the admin's to see. Nobody else's.
